ES Windows stamps a seven-digit serial starting with “ESW” followed by the series code: 60, 70, or 85. The label also gives the glass makeup, which matters because a 7000 Series impact unit needs a completely different anchoring schedule than a 6000 Series non-impact unit. If the label is faded, measure the frame depth at the jamb: 3-1/4 inches is the 6000 Series, 4-1/2 inches is the 7000, and 5-1/8 inches is the 8500 picture line.

On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question: for installation hardware like mounting clips, shims, and sealant systems, we use OEM-spec or better every time. ES Windows frames use a specific thermal break profile that aftermarket generic clips don’t always seat into correctly. We’ve re-done too many jobs where a generic clip kit caused the frame to bow under wind load. For the glass itself, we only install ES Windows-certified laminated units in impact zones. A replacement glass unit alone won’t last if we don’t correct the install pressure points first.
