CWS Door Installation: The Naples Owner’s Guide

If you own a CWS door in Naples and a hinge, roller, lock set, or threshold has failed, we can match the right replacement part and install it, usually within a day or two of your call. Most CWS door repairs and full installations run $180 to $1,400 installed, depending on whether we’re swapping a single roller assembly, rebuilding a sliding track, or setting a brand-new panel. Homeowners typically discover the problem as a door that suddenly drags, won’t latch, or makes a grinding sound every time the kids head out to the pool.

We’re an independent installer, not a CWS dealership, which means we’re free to tell you when a quality aftermarket part will do the job every bit as well as the OEM equivalent, and when it won’t. Ed Winslow has been setting doors in Southwest Florida for over a decade, and his crews see the same failure patterns season after season, salt air, humidity, and daily use working against every moving part on a CWS door.

Which CWS Models This Applies To

CWS manufactures sliding glass doors, hinged entry doors, and French door systems, and the compatibility question always comes down to two things: the series code on your frame and the measurement of the part itself. Most CWS doors have a label on the top edge of the sliding panel or inside the hinge mortise that lists the series number, something like 9060, 9550, or a newer impact-rated line. Take a picture of that label before you call; it saves us a return trip and we can have the right part on the truck when we show up.

One compatibility gotcha we see in Naples regularly: CWS sliding door rollers changed from a 1-inch to a 1-1/4-inch housing around 2015, and the two are not interchangeable. If your door was installed before that, and many in older Naples neighborhoods like Park Shore or Moorings were, you need the smaller roller or the door will sit high and the lock won’t engage. We keep both sizes on the truck. For hinges and lock hardware, OEM CWS parts are worth the upcharge when the door is still under warranty or when the finish has to match exactly; for rollers and weatherstripping, we often recommend a commercial-grade aftermarket part that outlasts the original in coastal conditions.

Signs Your CWS Door Installation Is Failing

  • Grinding or skipping when you slide it. The roller bearings are flattening, usually from sand and salt working into the housing. In Naples this is the number one failure we replace, especially on east-facing doors that catch the morning humidity and afternoon sun.
  • Air or water visible at the bottom rail. The threshold gasket or the door sweep has compressed. CWS uses a specific dual-fin sweep, and the flare on it flattens after three to five years of Florida heat. Once it’s flat, your AC bill climbs and rain gets driven under the door during our summer storms.
  • The door drops when you lift the latch, or won’t latch at all. The roller adjustment screws have walked, or a roller housing cracked. Every month of running a misaligned door accelerates wear on the tracks, so it’s cheaper to fix early.
  • Visible corrosion on the lower track corners. CWS frames are aluminum, so the frame itself usually survives, but the steel fasteners inside the track are not all stainless on older models. Corroded fasteners can cause the track to bow, which no roller can ride cleanly.
  • The lock turns but the hooks don’t throw. CWS multi-point locks use internal zinc gears that strip under force, especially on doors that were slamming in the wind. We’ve rebuilt dozens of these and can usually save the existing handle set.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In Naples and the surrounding Collier County area, we quote CWS door work at fixed, upfront prices so the number on the estimate is the number on the invoice. Here’s what homeowners can expect:

  • Roller replacement (both panels): $180 to $340 installed, including the rollers, track cleanup, and re-adjustment.
  • Door sweep or threshold gasket replacement: $140 to $260, depending on panel width.
  • Lock set repair or replacement (multi-point): $220 to $480 for a complete CWS-compatible lock rebuild.
  • New CWS or CWS-compatible sliding glass door (installed): $2,400 to $5,800, including haul-away, flashing, and finish trim.

The price is driven by part availability, the condition of the existing frame, and whether we’re matching an existing finish or doing a full door replacement. Every CWS door installation includes new fasteners, fresh weatherstripping where it’s touched, and our labor warranty. We also flag any adjacent issues we find at the estimate, not after we’ve started pulling screws.

DIY or Call Us?

On a sliding glass door, the parts are under spring tension and a panel can weigh 180 pounds or more. A door coming off its track can shatter and a fractured roller housing can turn a simple afternoon into a trip to the emergency room. We’re direct about it: we don’t recommend removing a CWS door panel yourself. What you can safely do is vacuum the lower track, check the label I mentioned earlier, and look at whether the rollers are visibly flat. If you’re handy and frustrated, call us before you pick up a tool. The dispatch asks what you’re seeing, Ed reviews it, and we tell you honestly whether it’s a call we should make.

We don’t charge a trip fee inside our home county, and every estimate includes a written, line-item quote. If you’ve already got a written estimate from another company, bring it in, we’ll give you a free second opinion and the 10% discount for seniors and veterans applies on the final price.

What Neighbors Say About Winslow Windows & Doors

★★★★

"The installation was clean and the windows are beautiful. The factory took about six weeks to deliver the units, which Ed told me upfront, but living behind plywood-framed openings in the meantime still tested my patience."

GGuadalupe Zamorano
★★★★★

"Three big companies quoted us and every one sent a salesman with a leased truck. Ed turned up in a truck with his own name on the door, quoted less, and his crew were the same faces on day one and day nine."

YYolanda Betancourt
★★★★★

"Someone tried the back slider while we were away. The glass crazed and held, the alarm never had to earn its keep, and the police report reads better than it might have. Ed came out the next morning to check the frame himself."

CCornelius Adeyemi
★★★★★

"Our insurance agent asked for the wind mitigation paperwork and Ed had the whole file ready the day the job closed, every opening photographed. The premium conversation went very differently this year."

OOdessa Fairbanks
★★★★★

"He replaced the front door and the garage door in the same week, both rated for impact, and lined the frames up so straight my level had nothing to say. My wife stopped hearing the highway from the front room."
